(Xinhua)    14:32, February 08, 2016

PHNOM PENH, Feb. 8 -- A small express boat, carrying six Chinese tourists, capsized on Monday off Cambodian coast of Preah Sihanouk province due to a winter storm, but all passengers were timely rescued, a senior police official said.

The boat with two Cambodian sailors and six Chinese tourists (four females and two males) on board sank at 10:35 a.m. local time near Koh Rong island resort in the distance of about 18 km offshore, said Gen. Chuon Narin, police chief of Preah Sihanouk province.

"They were all safe after our patrolling forces had timely rescued them,"he told Xinhua over telephone, adding that all the passengers wore life jackets when the accident took place.

He blamed the sailors' defying local authority's warning over the bad weather for the accident.

Preah Sihanouk province is situated some 230 km southwest of capital Phnom Penh.
