Six German Shepherd dogs appeared on the streets of Huangshi city in China’s central Hubei province on Monday as security forces during the Spring Festival.
With keen eyes, the dogs patrol around blocks alongside SWAT team members.
This also marks the launch of the armed patrol mechanism in the city, which pairs every four police officers with one car and one police dog.
"The patrol mechanism will cover 20 police stations around the city after the Spring Festival," said Chen Jun, head of the SWAT team of the local Public Security Bureau.
German Shepherds are highly responsive and after proper training, they can be of great help in security work, Chen added.
