A fishing boat caught an enormous tuna off the Katsuura port in Wakayama prefecture, Japan on Jan. 24. The 2.65-meter long and 417-kilogram tuna is the heaviest to be landed on this port since 1949, breaking a previous record of 411 kg in 2015.
According to Hiroshi Kodama, captain of the fishing boat, the big fish even broke the chains on fishing machine. It took the crew an hour to get the tuna landed. The fish is said to be good for a sashimi dish that can serve 3000 people.
The tuna was then auctioned at a price of over 2 million yen (nearly 17000 USD).
