China's box office is expected to break 100 billion in the next three years and with optimization of the revenue structure, the film industry and related industries will be worth over 1 trillion yuan, according to insiders of the film industry.
China's box office in 2015 reached more than 44 billion yuan including more than 27 billion yuan brought by domestic films, according to the State Administration of Press, Publication, Radio, Film and Television of the People's Republic of China.
By the end of 2016, China is expected to surpass the U.S. as the largest movie market in the world, said Guo Yi, chief media and internet analyst at the China International Trust and Investment Corporation, in an interview with the Economic Information Daily.
There is a great gap between the potential cultural consumption and the actual consumption. The potential cultural consumption is expected to reach 4.7 trillion yuan whereas the actual consumption hits only 1 trillion yuan.
