Xu Meirong, a female teacher at a junior high school in Huanggang city, central China's Hubei province, recently saved the lives of two students by pushing them out of the path of a motorcycle that had lost control.

The tragedy happened by the gate of Changchong Junior High School. Xu Meirong, followed by four schoolboys, prepared to cross the street. A motorcycle suddenly rushed up to them as they neared the middle of the road. Two of the boys quickly ran away, and Xu pushed away the other two students, who were slower in realizing the danger. Unfortunately, Xu failed to escape herself. The motorcycle crashed into her and knocked her to the ground after flinging her four or five meters through the air.

School security chief Liu Baoyuan quickly ran and revived Xu Meirong, who had fainted. Liu pinched her philtrum. Xu finally moved slightly and opened her eyes, struggling to ask: "Did the boys get hit?" Soon after, she went into a coma. Xu was sent to the local hospital, where she entered the Intensive Care Unit.

Xu Meirong, 50, has been a Chinese teacher for 27 years. "A hero was around us. Teacher Xu put all her heart into loving students. I hope that she will recover as soon as possible," said Zhu Qiong, another teacher at Changchong Junior High School.
