BEIJING, Dec. 28 -- The fourth plenary session of the 14th central committee of China Zhi Gong Party (ZGP), a major non-Communist party in China, opened on Monday in Beijing.
Looking back on 2015, Wan Gang, chairman of the party, stated that celebrating the 90th anniversary of its founding, ZGP had been focused on the ideological construction of the party as well as on developing socialism with Chinese characteristics.
Besides, the party had been trying to strengthen the relationship with overseas Chinese as an effort to make the most of China's overseas resources, in order to push forward the implementation of the country's "Belt and Road" initiative, according to Wan.
Wan also looked into the year of 2016, which marks the beginning of the China's 13th Five-Year Plan, saying it will be a crucial year for the country's structural reform.
ZGP will thus adhere to the instructions and spirit of the Communist Party of China, with determination to improve ZGP's performance in political participation and self-construction, Wan stressed at the meeting.
More than 250 party members attended the two-day plenary session. The meeting is set to conclude on Tuesday.
