'So we have to find the problem at its heart, and for us French we have to learn how to be happy and live among ourselves.'
Miss Australia Monika Radulovic was asked if she believed it was a good idea to legalize marijuana in the country.
'Now this topic has both positives and negatives,' she responded. 'I believe that in certain circumstances legalizing marijuana has definite benefits, treating cancer and helping those who are really sick.'
'But the government should definitely weigh both options,' she concluded.
Gutierrez was asked about the best way to handle the global drug abuse problem and responded, through an interpreter, that the best way was by educating in the home first.
And Jordan was asked about the issue of gun control in America, with Harvey declaring that few issues 'are more polarizing' in the country.
'This is an incredibly difficult issue and I think that it's incredibly important that all individuals have the right to protect themselves and feel safe,' she said.
'But sometimes we need to look at the safety as a whole more than our personal safety, I think we need stronger regulation and we need to pay attention.'
After Jordan, Gutierrez and Wurtzbach were named the top three contestants, they were each asked why they should be the next Miss Universe.
Jordan used her answer to make a call for women's rights.
'I want to work to bring equality towards men and women,' she said. 'It is time to step up into power, women, and I want to empower women all over the world.'
Gutierrez said she wanted to be the third woman from her country to take the Miss Universe crown because she had 'all of the attributes that a Latin woman has' and said she was a women 'full of feeling', with all the attributes a Miss Universe should have.
And Wurtzbach said she wanted to use her voice to inspire young people.
'I will use my voice to influence the youth, to use my voice to raise HIV awareness. I want to show the world, the universe rather, that I am confidently beautiful with a heart.'
There is no doubt that it will be awhile before the world forgets Wurtzbach or Guttierez's name - and the night that made them both famous.
NFL player Emmitt Smith, former Miss USA Olivia Culpo, actress Nicey Nash and blogger Perez Hilton were the judges for the competition, as were fans watching at home and even the eliminated Miss Universe contestants after the pool was narrowed to three women
