BEIRUT, Dec. 5 -- A wanted suspect blew himself Saturday when an army unit raided his residence in the northern region of Deir Ammar, killing three people and wounding six others, including five army soldiers, the National News Agency (NNA) reported.
The suspect Mohammed Hamza detonated a hand grenade when the army raided his house, killing himself, his mother Hasna Hamza and niece Israa Mohammed al-Sayyed, the report said.
His sister Safa Hamza and five soldiers were injured in the attack.
Media reports said Hamza was a follower of local extremist Osama Mansour, one of Lebanon's most notorious jihadi fighters, who was shot dead by security forces in the northern city of Tripoli in April.
