Bellamy's Organic is being sold on Taobao, a Chinese equivalent of eBay, for double Australia's retail price.

The sought-after milk formula can also be found on eBay, which has fewer listings - slightly over 300, compared to 500 on Taobao.

The Australian formula has been in high-demand across China after the country was shaken by the locally produced products tainted with melamine poisoning in 2008 that killed six babies.

'China is a country with millions of babies and after the milk formula scandal, I do understand why parents are in desperate need for them,' Ms Leung told Daily Mail Australia.

'They want to buy formula made in a country like Australia because we have good regulations here.

'But the main problem is the people who are buying them here and then selling it online or shipping it overseas for profit - this is definitely something that I am unhappy about.'
