Angry parents have shared photos of shoppers bulk buying baby formula.

And Ms Leung said she has not been the only one being slapped with the embarrassment in public when other parents suspect her of bulk buying in an attempt to ship the product overseas.

'I have Chinese friends who have spoken about experiencing a similar issue as well but there's nothing we can do - our babies need to eat too,' she said.

'But I don't believe any mother should avoid going to a supermarket to get formula for their baby because of this reason. It is something that we just need to do for the best for our babies.

'Like any other mother, I have stocked up before as there is always a shortage. Maybe four to five cans each time I shop as my daughter now only drinks it twice a day.

'I also stock up because most of the time when I do get a chance to go shopping, all I see are empty shelves. I also stock up to avoid confrontation because it has happened too many times.'

The mother posted a photo (pictured) appearing to show a shopper buying two trolleys full of in-demand Bellamy's Organic milk formula at Woolworths amid an apparent shortage.

She said she was reluctant to change to a different brand of formula or switching to fresh milk for her toddler as it causes her to have diarrhoea and discomfort.

'I don't want any unnatural substances in what my baby is drinking so I just stick to Bellamy's Organic because my daughter hasn't had any problems with it,' she said.

Parents have recently voiced their frustration over the ongoing shortage of the popular brand of organic milk formula - blaming the shortfall on hoarding in China.

This week, it emerged a mother allegedly saw a group piling two supermarket trolleys high with the hard-to-find baby formula in full view of staff at Woolworths in Epping Plaza, north of Melbourne.
