Culture: the charm of the ancient China
Xi'an is another important stop for foreign leaders while visiting China. In May this year, the Prime Minister of India, Narendra Modi, chose Xi'an as his first stop in China. In the past few years, the President of Russia Vladimir Putin, Korean President Park Geun-hye, Queen of the United Kingdom Elizabeth II, Emperor of Japan Akihito, former US President Ronald Reagan, former French President Jacques Chirac, the King and Queen of Belgium, former French President Nicolas Sarkozy, the King and Queen of Spain, the King and Queen of Sweden, and former Canadian Prime Minister Jean Chretien all visited Xi'an. The Terra-Cotta Warriors are on their “must-go” lists.
Besides Xi'an, other cities present a great experience in terms of Chinese culture. For example, Secretary-General of the United Nations Ban Ki-moon and his wife headed to Shandong when they visited China; president of Myanmar Thein Sein went to Luoyang, Henan. Chinese cuisine is an important part of Chinese culture. To taste various Chinese foods, foreign politicians like Merkel and Cameron also head to Chengdu to experience the traditional Sichuan cuisine.
