83-year-old Tang Ling has studied in Chengdu University for the Aged for 28 years in southwest China's Chengdu city. She is the oldest one in class. Having graduated for 8 times, Tang always restarted the study from the beginning, since she doesn't want to leave the university.
Tang isn't the only one obsessed with study. Her classmate Liu Xinqing has also studied for 28 years. Despite of illness, she takes a bus from suburb to the downtown to attend class every day. Mr. Wang, over 80, insists to go to school on wheelchair. Among the more than 100 students in a class, nearly 20 have studied for more than 20 years just like Tang.
Tang registered in the university in 1987 in order to go out the depression. "I just retired. The money that I earned for life was fleeced, "Tang said. Very quickly, Tang went out of the shadow and made a lot of friends in the university. Interesting courses and like-minded friends are the reasons for so many aged people to fall in love with the study in university.
As of the end of 2014, the population over 60 reaches 2,49 million in Chengdu, accounting for 20.6 percent of the total population of the city. Of which 233,200 have registered in universities, accounting for 9.35 percent of the elderly population.
