Inspection of 11 agencies, SOEs uncovers embezzlement

China's top disciplinary watchdog revealed the results of the disciplinary inspections of 11 State-run companies, government agencies and public institutions on Sunday. Many of the officials being scrutinized in this second round of inspections were found to have embezzled or taken bribes.

According to results released by the Central Commission for Discipline Inspection (CCDI) of the Communist Party of China on its official website, some of these company and institution leaders have abused their power and harmed the national interest.

Aviation Industry Corporation of China was found to have violated several financial guidelines, including allowing loose control over purchases. In addition, some of the company's leaders were found to have embezzled public funds to pay for personal travel and rounds of golf.

Cronyism was found to be a problem at the Civil Aviation Administration of China, as some of its leaders were found to have abused their power and colluded with personnel from outside agencies to swindle the State out of some of its assets.

Leaders of China North Industries Corp were accused of providing their spouses, children and relatives with company funds and resources through spurious business relationships. The company was also found to have put some investment projects at risk due to a lack of supervision and management.

According to the CCDI statement, 26 State-run companies, government agencies and public institutions underwent disciplinary inspection during the second round, and results for the remaining will be unveiled.
