According to 2015 "Top 500 Asia Brands" released in Hong Kong on Monday, South Korea's Samsung, Japan's Sony and the Industrial and Commercial Bank of China (ICBC) are ranked the top three while People's Daily leaps to NO. 1 among Asia's print media.
The evaluation was based on the influence of these Asian brands, including the ability to expand and occupy markets and gain profit. This is the tenth time that the World Brand Laboratory issued the rankings of Top 500 Asia Brands.
A total of 500 brands from 20 countries and regions were included in the evaluation. Among them, 204 brands are from China (including Hong Kong and Macao) accounting for 40.8 percent, 156 from Japan and 48 from South Korea.
The top three Chinese brands are ICBC, State Grid Corporation and China Life. Out of the media outlets, People's Daily is ranked 56, up two places from last year, and it surpassed the "Yomiuri Shimbun" for the first time.
Experts believe that the Internet may bring disruptive changes to Asian enterprises and brands. To the traditional brands adapting to face the challenges of digitization and transform themselves to digital brands are the most urgent.
World Brand Laboratory is affiliated to the well-known business media organization World Executive Group, its experts and consultants are from global first class universities including Harvard University, Yale University and Oxford University. Since 2006 the "Top 500 Asia Brand" has been published annually.
