According to the construction plan of the Beidou Navigation system, Beidou will be able to serve the countries along the "Belt and Road" in 2018 and provide a global service in 2020, said Ma Jiaqing, deputy director of the management office of China's satellite navigation system at the China-ASEAN Harbor Forum Sunday.

Ma said that advocating multi-system integration application and promoting Beidou system to go globally have been included in the "Belt and Road" strategic planning. China has already worked with South Korea, Australia, Singapore, Indonesia, Pakistan, and Thailand in the application of Beidou.

Ma said that China has initially completed the construction of the ground-based augmentation system. In 2015, it will complete the construction of 150 national stations and 300 regional encrypted stations, and speed up the construction of global subnets at the same time. As of this month, it has successfully launched three Beidou navigation satellites.

According to Ma, China has proprietary intellectual property rights of the core technology of satellite navigation chip. The technical performance is close to the international level of the same period, which has been widely applied in key sectors such as meteorology, public security, transportation and telecommunications. By 2020, an industrial system with complete range, rational layout and optimized structure will be formed, which will greatly enhance application scale and international level of the Beidou system.
