According to the written confession of Kiyokazu Hiranaka in June and August 1954, he was born in Yamaguchi Prefecture, Japan in 1895. He joined the Japanese War of Aggression against China in 1933 and was captured in August 1945.
Major offences:
In June 1934: As detachment captain of Anshan Military Police, ordered the squad leader and other three soldiers to execute by shooting two Chinese anti-Japanese people.
In October 1934: Sent people to take part in “special exercises”, “ordered the Siping Epidemic Prevention and Water Supply Unit of the Kwantung Army to carry out the plot to spread bacteria, killing about 1,000 Chinese people”.
From September to October 1935: “The Kwantung Army conducted poison gas exercises near Xiajiutai, Jilin Province”. Commander of the Military Police Major General Hideki Tojo, in order to keep that secret, ordered branches of the Military Police to send officers to Hsinking to “serve as guards for exercises”; was ordered to send three subordinates to take part in the exercises. “During the exercises, about 20 Chinese people, who were detained in prisons in regions including Hsinking and Jilin, were used for poison gas testing”.
In February 1936: Took part in the “arrest of Jin Yuanfeng, chief of the Propaganda Department of Liuhe County Committee, and other 119 people”; in March 1937, took part in the “arrest of Feng Jianying, Party Secretary of Liuhe County Committee, and other 26 people; after interrogation by torture, executed them by shooting in the garrison in Shancheng Township”.
In October 1943: In Dalian, “arrested a Chinese man Shen Delong, a radio translator associated with the Soviet Union”, “arrested another Chinese man with such connections Li Zhongshan in Fengtian, arrested Wang Yaoxuan and a member of the Chinese Communist Party (name unknown) in Tianjin, after interrogation by torture, at the order by the commander of the Military Police, sent the above-mentioned four people to the Ishii Unit in Harbin for bacteriological testing”. “I ... served as team captain when the team arrested Shen Delong, a radio operator, in Dalian.”
On 15 August 1945: The chief of the Secret Service in Dalian invited “Third-class General Litokov of the Soviet Union” to Dalian, “then shot him dead in the Secret Service building”. Afterwards, jointly deliberated and decided that the president of Dalian Army Hospital would “fake a diagnosis, and cremate the corpse”.
