According to the written confession of Kiyoshi Shimosaka on 9 October 1954, he was born in Hiroshima Prefecture, Japan in 1919. He joined the Japanese War of Aggression against China in 1940 and was captured in August 1945.
Major offences:
On 4 May 1940: In Suixian County, Hubei Province, together with one companion “detained a 30-year-old peaceful Chinese woman and her two sons (aged around seven and four respectively) in a house”, “I lit straw with a match, burned down two houses and burned to death the mother and sons”.
In May 1940: In Suixian County, the companions “killed” three captives “in order to see how sharp the katana was”.
In May 1940: In Zaoyang County, Hubei Province, two companions “gang-raped a 20-year-old Chinese woman”; later, one companion “stuck a bamboo gun he had found in the house into the woman’s private parts, reaching about 30 centimeters in depth, thus brutally killing her”.
In June 1940: In Jingmen County, Hubei Province, the companion gave the instruction to arrest seven peaceful residents, “tied their hands behind the back, detained them in a house, piled up straw in the house and set it on fire, burning downing three houses and burning to death the seven peaceful residents”.
In July 1940: In Jingmen County, together with companions, “arrested a peaceful peasant (man) aged around 30 and a woman aged around 30”, “threaten them with bayonet and forced them to have sexual intercourse”, and “during the sexual intercourse”, a companion “bayoneted them at the back and killed them”.
In August 1941: In Jiangling County, Hubei Province, captured one peasant, “used a 6-inch knife to stab him in the chest three times, thus cruelly killing him”.
From July 1941 to March 1942: In Jingmen County, “abused two Korean women aged around 20, for 15 times each”.
In July 1942: In Jiangling County, “threatened with bayonet” two Chinese women and took them to the sentry post, where Kiyoshi Shimosaka and many companions “gang-raped” them.
From April to July 1942: In Jiangling County, broke into “a house, threatened with bayonet and raped a young Chinese girl 16 years old”.
In May 1943: In Yichang County, Hubei Province, together with one companion, “took one peaceful resident aged around 35 to the crop fields ahead”; Kiyoshi Shimosaka used a katana to “behead him, then split his head in two”; the companion “took the victim’s brains”, and “ordered another soldier to scorch the brains to make medicine from it”.
In August 1944: In Yichang County, companions used eight peaceful residents “as ‘live targets’ in shooting and bayoneting training of 50 cadets of the regiment, thus brutally killing them all”.
