According to the written confession of Takashi Mikami on 1 August 1954, he was born in Yamanashi Prefecture, Japan in 1921. He joined the Japanese War of Aggression against China in 1942 and was captured in August 1945.
Major offences:
In June 1942: While stationed in Linqing County seat, Shandong Province, Sergeant Getsuji “often ordered platoon members to collect live people’s brains” to cure his venereal disease. Takashi Mikami said to Lance Corporal Yokokura, “get some brains during the mopping up”, who, “killed a Chinese peasant (gender and age unknown) in a village and brought his/her brains back. I cooked it, kept it in a kettle and gave it to Sergeant Getsuji as medicine for his venereal disease”. Inside the Linqing County seat, “used power to rape two Korean women aged 18 to 20”.
In August 1942: In Guantao County, Shandong Province, “interrogated” with torture two captured Chinese peasants (male). As “one peasant kept silent, Second Lieutenant Oyagi said, ‘let the new recruits test their courage’ ”, so “five others and I bayoneted the peasant in the chest and killed him, and then buried him in a pit”.
Between August and October 1942: In Guantao County, “used my power to rape two Korean women aged around 20 four times”.
In February 1943: In Linqing County, “during a massive attack on about 1,000 soldiers of the anti-Japanese army (according to intelligence)” at night, “shot” under orders “40 shells and 12 tear-gas grenades and asphyxiant gas canisters; those fleeing from the village were strafed by heavy machine guns set up outside the county; as a result, 370 anti-Japanese soldiers and peaceful civilians were slaughtered. I invaded the village and saw the situation in person: at three spots inside and outside the village, dead soldiers and residents piled up; most of them covered their mouths with a towel, with water coming out of their noses and their faces turning purplish”.
Between January and June 1943: Inside the Linqing County seat, “used my power to rape two Korean women (aged 18 to 20) ten times”.
Around 27 August 1943: In Tangyi County, Shandong Province, “threw five grenades” at the walls of a civilian village, “killing 15 civilians”.
Between June and December 1944: In Guangrao County, Shandong Province, “raped two Korean women aged 18 to 20 four times”.
In April 1945: On way back from training along Qingdao-Jinan Railway in Shandong Province, “ordered Corporal Kimura to beat a Chinese peasant (aged around 40) at the back of his head with a pole, claiming that he traversed between the artillery unit of the regiment and that of the battalion”; “he was beaten to death”.
