A passenger who was injured after being shoved into a seat on a subway train during the morning peak hours has received a 20,000-yuan ($3220) compensation from the Beijing Subway company, as reported by "The Mirror", the Beijing-based legal evening paper.

The compensation was pronounced by Xicheng District People's Court in Beijing on Monday.

According to the court, Beijing Subway is responsible for the commuter's injury as the company didn't designate enough staff members to ensure the safety of commuters during rush hour.

The passenger, surnamed Zhu, bumped into a passenger seat on the Batong Line, pushed by passengers behind him back in September, 2013.

Zhu thus got four ribs fractured and chest trauma and was rushed to a hospital nearby.

Later, Zhu sued the Beijing Subway for compensation of 170,000 yuan.
