Walmart announced that it has set up an investigation team on July 30 after the pork it sells being tested to be tainted with a banned drug albuterol, also known as "lean meat powder".
Albuterol known as "lean meat powder" has been found in the pork produced by Wallmart’s supplier Beijing Senshunhengfa company, according to China Food and Drug Administration on July 28.
Walmart refused to explain why it chose the supplier and to reveal in which store the tainted pork had been sold.
Walmart added that it has suspended cooperation with the supplier and would support relevant departments to conduct investigations.
