A young woman was crushed to death in an elevator accident in a residence in Hangzhou, east China's Zhejiang Province on July 30, as was reported by zjonline.com.cn on Thursday.
Firefighters who came to the rescue estimated that the girl was walking into the elevator on the 17th floor when the elevator suddenly began to fall, left her head and neck stuck in the gap between the outboard of the elevator and the hoistway.
The young woman was rushed to a hospital nearby where she was announced dead after more than one hour of emergency treatment.
Accidents like these have sparked fear among local residents in the area, and many now choose to take the stairs to get in and out of buildings.
The 21-year-old girl was another victim of machine-related accident this week following the fatal escalator accident in central China's Hubei Province on July 26.
