Man dies in Channel Tunnel, Deepens Migrant Crisis (Today in U.S. News-- July 29)

Jonathan Pollard has spent the last 30 years of his life behind bars for convicted espionage. He was sentenced to life in 1987 on for spying on behalf of Israel while working for the US Navy.

Yesterday, Pollard was granted parole, shocking many that believed he would die in prison. Many are pointing to the recent Iran Nuclear Deal as the reason for his release, as it serves to placate Israel and its supporters.

Between France and England exists a tunnel connecting the two European nations. This tunnel, often called the Eurotunnel or the Chunnel, became overwhelmed yesterday evening as over 2,000 migrants stormed from the French side.

Many of these migrants are reportedly from the Middle East or Africa, where civil unrest has prompted them to leave their homes in search of work, peace, and opportunity. During the tunnel rush, one many died and many were injured as police barricaded and repelled more from entering.
