On June 23, China announced plans to commemorate the 70th anniversary of the end of World War II. These included inviting foreign militaries to participate in a parade on Sept. 3. This year is the 70th anniversary of the victory in the Chinese People's War of Resistance against Japanese Aggression and the World Anti-Fascist War. It will be the first time China has held a parade to commemorate the events.

As the highlight of the commemoration event, the parade, according to media commentator Chuang Zhi, will present the following points to watch:

New weapons

New weapons are always the most eye-catching aspect of a military parade. The public speculate about what weapons will be on display. New weapons such as the J-15 shipboard aircraft, H-6K bomber, J-20 stealth fighter, KJ-500 AEW, Z-10 gunship, Y-20 large military transport aircraft, DF series missiles, and the Red Flag-9 anti-aircraft missile are all possible candidates to be shown at the parade.

Achievements in anti-corruption campaign

China has launched a nationwide anti-corruption campaign and the People's Liberation Army is not standing on the sidelines. At the beginning of 2015 the PLA announced that dozens of corrupt officials had been caught, including former vice chairman of China's Central Military Commission Xu Caihou. The parade will be a good opportunity to show the achievements of the PLA in the anti-corruption campaign.

Which state leaders will attend?

According to Hua Chunying, Foreign Ministry spokeswoman, China will send invitations to relevant state leaders and international organizations. However, China has not yet announced the invitation list. Whether the US, which played a critical role in World War II and is now the ally of Japan, will be invited has attracted much speculation.
