WASHINGTON, June 24 -- China and the United States have been on a good rhythm to improve bilateral relations, said U.S. Treasury Secretary Jacob Lew here on Wednesday.

"Think about the S&ED (the China-U.S. Strategic and Economic Dialogue) and leaders' meeting alike, it is a mistake to think of any one of them as the final destination, as the final discussion," said Lew at the closing press conference for the seventh S&ED that was held from Tuesday to Wednesday in Washington.

"Because as soon as we get through the next leaders' meeting there will be preparation for the next S&ED and that will be preparing for the next leaders' meeting," he said.

"We have a rhythm now making progress through each cycle. So that the relationship can get stronger and we can do things in the interests of both American people and Chinese people," said Lew.

Lew said this year's S&ED has made accomplishments in many areas, while three progresses are the "most significant" in his eyes, which are exchange rate, market access and the bilateral investment treaty (BIT) and information communication technology issue.

China and the United States have conducted candid and in-depth exchange of views on issues of long-term and strategic importance to the two economies and the world economy, and reached over 70 important outcomes, said Chinese Vice Premier Wang Yang at the closing ceremony of this year's S&ED.
