| Yumenguan or Yumen pass is situated in the Gobi Desert in Dunhuang, northwestern China’s Gansu Province. It used to be a strategic fort on the ancient Silk Road and also a road connecting Central Asia and China. Yumen gained this name because Hetian jade were transported from Xinjiang to Central China through this pass during the ancient time. (People’s Daily Online/Zhang Yuan) |
