The US has been judgemental about China's intentions in the South China Sea; while for the Chinese, the US has been trying to interfere and disrupt peaceful disccussions achieved through effort and industry.
Gesture of US in South China Sea is like an eagle rushing into a china store. What I want to know is this: is the US trying to follow the same strategy in the Asia-Pacific region as it did in the Middle East – a strategy which has proved disastrous? Shouldn't the US be seeking a better and more evolved approach to getting along with other nations, including China?
Third, China needs to get used to its new position in the community of nations, and learn to explain clearly to the world about its ideas and intentions. China is a major power that is still at the learning stage, and Chinese people need to have more patience and tolerance. We can learn from the United States, learn about its diverse attitude towards China. As I noted very recently, US think tanks are reviewing their opinions about China. And China, in return, should also pay more attention to such changes.
As President Xi puts it, 35-years of diplomacy between the two countries has proved that good ties between China and the US are of benefit not only to the peoples of the two countries, but also to Asia-Pacific and the rest of the world.
