On March 16, the Daily Mail republished a news story, Blind man and his sidekick with no arms have planted 10,000 trees in rural China in 10 years, which was originally published on People’s Daily Online on March 12. The touching story resonates with a large number of netizens.
The story is about blind man Jia Haixia and double amputee Jia Wenqi, both 53, who have found a unique way of working together by becoming each other's hands and eyes in a village of Hebei province, north China.
Since 2002, they have planted more than 10,000 trees in Yeli village of Jingxing county, turning the land covered by rocks and weeds into forest.
The story resonates with a large number of netizens. They see the duo as inspiring eco-warriors not only for their own community but also for the whole world. They are especially admired as they are people with disabilities.
