Located at an altitude of 3,300 meters, Yunnan Institute of Buddhist Studies Diqing Branch is an important school of Tibetan Buddhism in Yunnan. Established in 2005, the institute now has a total of 68 monks, who are from some monasteries in Yunnan, Sichuan and Tibet.
