On Feb. 2, 2015, the WeChat account of Pu'er - "Announcements from Pu'er (puerfabu)" - officially went online, becoming the first WeChat platform in Yunnan province that integrate information, service and interaction functions.

Hosted on the servers of Tencent as a technical supporter, the WeChat account contains three major sections: Pu'er News, Smart Pu'er, and Pu'er WeChat Interaction.

Of these sections, Pu'er News provides the latest news and developments in Pu'er, television news video on demand (VOD), and other news services concerned with Pu'er; Smart Pu'er is designed to fulfill a number of functions, including making the government affairs more open and transparent, explaining policies, guiding the user through the intricacies of government affairs, providing quick searches, and collecting suggestions from the public; Pu'er WeChat Interaction focuses on introducing the rich history and culture of Pu'er and providing a means through which netizens can interact with each other. Netizens, for instance, can upload beautiful photos of Pu'er onto the platform via Fall in Love with Pu'er, a sub-column under Pu'er WeChat Interaction, so as to share them with other netizens of the WeChat account.

The account will keep on integrating relevant resources, enriching its contents, perfecting the function of each section, and, on the basis of the existing news and information and smart livelihood, providing more considerate services aimed at making life easier for the citizens, including handling affairs via WeChat, recommended places on Pu'er's periphery, map navigation, and recommended tourist routes, with a view to building a bridge of communication for them and starting a brand-new mode of government-public interaction.
