Sydney Joins Flash Mobs in as China Welcomes the New Year

SYDNEY, Feb.6 -- A flash mob took place on Campbell’s cove opposite Sydney Opera House on 6th February. Over 150 “pedestrians” popped up there and begin singing and dancing to the music to celebrate the Chinese New Year.

The Chinese New Year Celebration is a major program on which joint effort is made by China Central Television and China Network Television. It has been broadcasted annually since 2011 during the Chinese New Year on CCTV Channels 1, 2, 3, and 4. It has also been broadcasted on various online media in over 190 regions and countries including North America, Europe, and Australia.

To celebrate the Chinese New Year 2015, flash mobs will be shot in major cities in and out of China, linking the brilliant performances by local and international stars in Beijing live studio, which is going to provide all Chinese Internet users and television audience around the world fashionable viewing experience. As a city that is inhabited by a large number of overseas Chinese, Sydney has been selected as one of the shooting venues of the 2015 CCTV Chinese New Year Celebration. CCTV Chinese New Year Celebration aims to shoot a unique flash mob in Sydney to show the optimism and open spirit of the Australian Chinese, as well as their celebration of Chinese New Year and best wishes to their motherland.

The flash mob is directed by famous Australian director Karlene Meenahan, who has won Emmy Awards and ATV Awards for serval times. The activity is produced by Sydney EOETV, which has first-class cameramen, music arrangements, and recorders.

Apart from the Campbell’s Cove as the main venue, the Sydney flash mobs will also be shot on the dynamic and romantic Bondi Beach. Besides, in order to fully present the exotic Australian culture which welcoming the Year of Goat, the flash mobs will be shot on Greenwich Farm in Goulburn, on which there are herds of cows and sheep.
