Villagers roll cigarettes in a village near Diamond Harbor in West Bengal, India, Jan. 16, 2015. In spite of the peaceful environment in the villages at the Ganges Delta, countryside life brings local people an average income of less than 100 rupees (about 1.6 U.S. dollars) per day. Due to poor transportation and lack of industry, villagers win their bread and butter by doing high labor-intensive works such as collecting juice from palm trees, seasonal farming and hand-rolled cigarettes, which make the villages at the Ganges Delta one of the poorest areas of the country.
