Meng Jianzhu, special envoy of Chinese President Xi Jinping, recently reached an agreement with Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan on international counter-terrorism, marking the start of a new era of cross-regional cooperation for China in the battle against terrorism.
The significance of China's bilateral cooperation with Turkey can be analyzed from four perspectives.
First of all, a platform of counter-terrorist cooperation has started to form in the 'one belt and one road' region. For a very long time, China's counter-terrorist activities were carried out through the platform of the Shanghai Cooperation Organization. Though these activities were generally effective, Turkey, a country that has been affected by Pan-Turkism, was not included. Now there will be no blind spot in the governance of Pan-Turkism terrorism with the cooperation being built between China and Turkey.
