Dance musical "Shangrila-dynamic Yunnan" will be on show From Nov. 26 to 29 in the Palace of Culture in Kuala Lumpur. Malaysia Tourism and Culture Minister announced on Thursday.
The show is directed by Chinese famous dancer Yang Liping and the special performance of the show in Malaysia will be carried out by Malaysia Folk Dance Arts Center.
The minister said the year marks the 40th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic tie, a range of celebration activities organized by Chinese and Malaysian governments, including this dance musical, would further strengthen exchanges between the two countries and enhance the friendship between the two peoples.
China and Malaysia have established bilateral ties since more than 600 years ago when Chinese Zheng He, the heroic ancient explorer who commanded expeditionary voyages to Southeast Asia, South Asia, the Middle East, and East Africa from 1405 to 1433.
Coincidentally, Zheng He was from Yunnan, which added another extraordinary significance to the show, said the minister.
A senior official of the Chinese Embassy in Malaysia thanked the Tourist and Culture Ministry for giving full support and hoped that the show would let Malaysian audience get to know more about Chinese traditional culture.
The show "Shangrila-dynamic Yunnan", premiered in 2004, is a combination of traditional and modern elements into one large original ecological singing and dance show in Yunnan style, a style typical of the high southwest China area.
The show has be performed in China, Argentina, U.S.A, Japan, Brazil, Australia.
