BEIJING, Sept. 28 -- China will work harder to attract overseas talent, especially high-caliber innovators.
On the eve of the 65th anniversary of the founding of new China, the Chinese government held a reception for foreign experts in the Great Hall of the People, addressed by Liu Yunshan, member of the Standing Committee of the Political Bureau of the Communist Party of China (CPC) Central Committee.
Liu conveyed appreciation and greetings from President Xi Jinping and the government to all foreign experts and international friends for their support for reform and development. Among some 1,800 attendants were foreign experts in the fields of technology, economics, management, culture and education.
Liu said China will improve rules and practices to attract more highly skilled workers from overseas, including protection of intellectual property rights and providing excellent working conditions.
With a need for talent more urgent than ever before, Liu said China will always be ready to learn from other nations. China's achievements in the past 65 years are the result of not only the hard work by the Chinese people, but also outstanding contributions made by foreign experts. Foreign experts have played an active role in opening up and modernization that the Chinese people will never forget.
Liu hoped that foreign experts would serve as goodwill ambassadors for China and help enhance world's understanding and friendship toward China.
