GUANGZHOU, Sept. 5 -- The executive vice mayor of Dongguan city in Guangdong province has been removed from his post for bribe-taking and an adulterous sex life, provincial authorities announced Friday.
Liang Guoying was also expelled from party for "serious violations of discipline and law," said a statement by the province's disciplinary watchdog. He was accused of receiving an enormous amount of bribes and having adulterous relationships with an unspecified number of women, apart from concealing his "naked official" status, a label on the group of officials who send their spouses and children abroad and are considered prone to corruption.
His case has been transferred to the judiciary court, the statement said.
Dongguan was known as China's "sex capital" before an extensive crackdown was launched in February to eradicate the city's rampant sex trade.
