VIENNA, Aug. 30 -- Hollywood movie star Tom Cruise has finished a one and a half week stay here for the filming of the latest installment of the Mission Impossible series in the Austrian capital.
The Kronen Zeitung newspaper reported that on Thursday evening the star was wrapping up shooting scenes for Mission Impossible 5 at the Vienna State Opera, with local reports surmising that his character in the series Ethan Hunt is tasked with stopping a terrorist attack on the venue.
In addition the stars of the film including Simon Pegg filmed at the Schottenring stop on the U2 line of the subway network.
Local Viennese residents reported seeing both Cruise and Pegg at the subway stop on Wednesday, where they signed autographs for fans.
Cruise has reportedly now moved on to Morocco for the next stage of filming, though director Christopher McQuarrie and a team will remain in Vienna to shoot scenes until early September.
The stars are expected to return in Spring, however, to shoot further scenes at the new campus of the Vienna University of Economics and Business.
