Japanese army was destroyed under violent attacks from Chinese people and army, Soviet Union's Red Army and US army. The Japanese government made a final decision to accept the Potsdam Declaration on August 9, 1945. On August 10, Japan’s foreign ministry manifested Japan’s acceptance of the terms of the Potsdam Declaration in the diplomatic note and this note was delivered to the Chinese government, the US government, the British government and the Soviet Union’s government by the governments of neutral states such as Switzerland and Sweden. At noon on August 15, the Emperor's recorded speech to the nation, called the Imperial Rescript on the Termination of the War, was broadcast.
