Gulshan Iminjan is a Uyghur member of an anti-terrorism SWAT team. She works at a SWAT team training base after graduating from a police training school. Being a beautiful policewoman, she is very proud of her ethnicity and family.
"We should always be confident showing our beautiful smiles, integrate our culture into the mainstream and let the whole world see how wonderful Uyghurs are," Gulshan says. She thinks the most beautiful thing has to involve particular cultures.
Gulshan's father is a policeman in Urumqi, and her husband is a police officer guarding the border. Gulshan and Peruk Yasin got married in May 2013. After their honeymoon, they had to be separated because of their jobs. They can only see each other once a month. Sometimes even when Peruk comes back to Urumqi, Gulshan is still on duty.
"When I think of him, we would video chat on the phone. Maybe it is because of our jobs, we seldom do romantic things like other couples. We understand responsibility is more important," Gulshan says.
"My brothers, cousins are all policemen." Gulshan is very proud when she talks about this. "We have eight police officers in our family! The only thing we feel regretful about is that there is always somebody missing for festivals because he still works on the day."
