Adil Memettur, chairman of a company in Hunan province, donated 10,000 catties of Xinjiang nut cakes to the earthquake-stricken area in Yunnan province on August 5, 2014.
Ludian earthquake draw widespread attention of all the ethnicities in our country. Among the relief goods handed out to the stricken area, people are especially moved by the 10,000 catties of Xinjiang nut cakes.
Nut cakes, a specialty of the Xinjiang Uygur Autonomous Region, were important food supplies for Chinese and foreign caravans travelling along the ancient Silk Road. They are easy to store, easy to eat and high nutrition. Thus they provided timely help to the people in the disaster area who lack water and food.
Adil’s idea was very simple. He hoped that people in the disaster area could get a little comfort from this batch of crisp and sweet Xinjiang nut cakes.
