China's manned deep-sea submersible, Jiaolong, on Wednesday conducts its sixth dive of this year's expedition mission in the Pacific Ocean.
The reporter aboard witnessed the operational state of the submersible and took photos of the benthic animals and cobalt-rich crusts in the deep sea areas.
The submersible independently developed in China was named after a mythical sea dragon. It reached as deep as 7,062 meters in the Mariana Trench in the western Pacific Ocean in 2012, setting a new record among Chinese divers.
