TAIPEI, July 25 -- Taiwan's aviation safety council plans to release information from the black boxes of TransAsia Airways Flight GE 222 to the public sometime next week, after the coded data is interpreted, it announced on Friday.
The data, including flight path information and recordings from the cockpit, should shed light on the reasons for the plane's deadly crash on Taiwan's Penghu Island, amid stormy weather, on Wednesday evening.
Although the two black boxes are badly damaged outside, the data inside remains complete, said Wang Hsing-chung, head of the council, at a press conference at Magong Airport on Penghu.
He also said that the wreckage of the plane will be transferred in two days to a local air force base, where it will be examined.
Several parts of the plane have already been transferred from the crash site, and disinfectant has been sprayed over the area to cover the unpleasant odor.
Taiwan's civil aeronautics head Jean Shen said that eight of the 10 people injured in the crash have been sent to the main island of Taiwan, while one has returned home and one remains in hospital on Penghu.
Of the 48 people killed, 33 of their bodies have been identified, including those of two French nationals.
TransAsia Airways Flight GE 222, with 58 people on board, crashed into residential buildings in Xixi Village of Penghu after a failed emergency landing at Magong Airport.
The flight was carrying 54 passengers and four crew members.
