Patrols focus on crowded public places
Since the heightened level of terror threat, Beijing has started a three-dimensional counter-terrorism mechanism.
Special police have been dispatched from Changping and the north suburbs of Beijing to urban districts, awaiting orders. The new assignment of police strength is to ensure the safety of populous central districts as well as shorten reaction time to terrorist attacks in accordance with latest instructions issued by Beijing Public Security Bureau.
Each patrol squad amounts to three police officers in key districts. In addition to patrol units, fixed and mobile police posts have been set up in crowded public areas such as railway stations, security check areas on the subway, downtown zones, and schools.
