US Secretary of State Plans Travels to Europe, Asia
US Secretary of State Colin Powell will make two trips to Europe and the Asia-Pacific region respectively in the coming weeks, the State Department announced on Friday.
Spokesman Richard Boucher told a regular briefing that the secretary will depart on July 17 for Rome, Italy, where he'll participate in the G-8 foreign ministers' meeting scheduled for July 18-19 to pave the way for the G-8 summit in Genoa, Italy.
Returning home on July 19, Powell will then travel to the Asia-Pacific region from July 22 to August 1, Boucher said. The stops will include Japan, Vietnam, the Republic of Korea, China and Australia, he added.
