Pakistan President Tarrar Resigns

Pakistan President Rafiq Tarrar has submitted his resignation and the elected national and four provincial assemblies ¡ª suspended after the military coup ¡ª have been dissolved, Pakistan's state-run radio and television announced June 20.

General Pervez Musharraf will be sworn-in as president of Pakistan under a new Provisional Constitutional Order. The swearing in ceremony is scheduled at 4.00 p.m. (1100 GMT).

The Senate, or the upper house of the Parliament, will remain intact, a Foreign Ministry official said. Chief Justice Irshad Hasan Khan will administer the oath for Musharraf, a radio report said.
