14 Top Sudanese Military Officers Killed in Plane Crash
The Sudan's deputy defense minister and 13 other high-ranking military officers were killed Wednesday in a plane crash in the southern part of the country.
The Associated Press quoted Sudanese military spokesman Lieutenant General Mohammed Bashir Osman as saying that the crash, occurring shortly after take-off, was caused by bad weather.
Those killed in the crash included one general, seven lieutenant generals, three brigadiers, a colonel, a lieutenant colonel and a corporal.
At the same time, 16 people on the plane survived the crash.
