No Heaps of Rubbish Found within Third Ring Road in BeijingLatest remote sensing images show that Beijing has been found reduced of over 2000 rubbish heaps, and the rubbish producing rate is slowing down to almost a growth of zero percent. กกFor a long time "Beijing is surrounded by 5000 rubbish heaps" as the media quoted. But now, there are no big piles of rubbish within the third ring road of the city, and only 663 rubbish heaps can be found between third and fifth ring roads, according to Wu Wenwei, head of the Beijing Research Institute for Environment Hygiene. The amount of rubbish produced in Beijing was found increasing at a rate of around 8 percent a year in the 1980s but is now slowing down to nearly a growth of none. That's due to the enhanced capability in rubbish processing and management, according to Wu. By PD Online staff member Huang Ying
