Beijing Party Chief Meets Taiwan Business People

Jia Qinglin, secretary of the Beijing Municipal Committee of the Communist Party of China, met Thursday, December 14, with a Taiwan businessmen delegation.

Jia briefed the guests on the investment climate of Beijing and preferential policies. The delegation is headed by Douglas Tong Hsu, who is the chairman and chief executive officer (CEO) of Far Eastern Group.

Jia expressed hope that Far Eastern Group will enhance exchanges and cooperation with its partners in Beijing, and promote economic and scientific cooperation between Beijing and Taiwan for the benefit of prosperity across the Taiwan Straits.

Far Eastern Group is the second largest enterprise in manufacturing industry in Taiwan. Hsu's Beijing visit is designed to learn about science and technological developments in Beijing and the possibility of bringing investment in Beijing
