Direct Train Service Between Dalian and Shanghai Opens

A direct train service opens to the public Saturday as an express train started at 12:11 from Dalian, a port city in northeast China, for Shanghai, China's major industrial city.

The train will arrive there at 12:18 the next day after traveling for some 24 hours.

Since then, the two major port cities 2,255 kilometer away have a convenient land transportation, linking them with a number of booming cities in the provinces of Liaoning, Hebei, Tianjin, Shandong, Anhui and Jiangsu.

According to Dalian railroad authorities, the train traveling from Shanghai to Dalian starts at 16:40 in Shanghai and arrives at 16:33 at Dalian the next day.
