Tianjin Port Handles More Imports And Exports

The import and export volume handled by Tianjin port in north China reached a record high of 14. 1 billion US dollars in the first six months of this year, up 20.8 percent from the year-ago period.

The import and export volume of Tianjin Municipality alone stood at 6.46 billion US dollars, an increase of 34.5 percent.

During the January-June period, the port handled 22.49 million tons of cargo, a rise of 34.9 percent, with imports standing at 8. 06 million tons, and exports, 16.23 million tons, up 23.4 percent and 41.5 percent, respectively.

The port also handled 842,200 TEUs in the first six months, an increase of 42.7 percent over the corresponding period of 1999.
