China's Market to Be Further Cleaned Up

Wang Zhongfu, director of State Administration for Industry & Commerceremarked Friday that China would continue to straighten up its markets.

He said in the directors' conference that the efforts to clean up the markets beginning this April has started to pay off. The number fake and pirated goods cases investigated rose 4.62-fold compared to the same period last year, 2.53-fold for trade mark infringements, 2.2-fold for false advertisements and 4.26-fold for pyramid schemes.

Wang said, in the next step, State Administration for Industry & Commerce would increase the scope of the law and continue the efforts to clean up the markets. It needs to keep investigating and banning illegal business, clean up cultural and entertainment grounds to root out pornography, gambling, and narcotic drugs, continue to ban various political problems from arising, ban illegal pyramid schemes.

When asked what could be done to expand the clean up on key commodities and key markets, Wang said that first, the crime nests must be eradicated, second, recidivists should be severely punished and third, "umbrella" to protect criminals should be cracked.

Wang stressed the protection of trademarks and inspection of advertisements should be strengthened.
